Alessandra's artist statement:

"My imagination is captured by the sculptural qualities of Encaustic painting, the physical layering and combination of resins and pigment with a beeswax based medium. I take this ancient style of painting and scrape, incise, torch and burnish the work. As the various layers are peeled away they reveal veils of atmospheric wax with depth, color and luminosity that lead to subtle and unpredictable textures inviting discovery with each exposed layer."
